Amol Prinn: Ends of the World
The largest of the elven cities prior to Starfall, Peldath stood at the heart of the western forests and was a bastion of knowledge even in the worst of times. Home to the major elven houses, the city rivaled or exceeded the greatest cities of men in its size and grandeur. After Starfall and the Reclamation, the city now stands in ruins and has been partially reclaimed by the forests which surround it, as the elves have retreated to hidden strongholds deep in the forests and hills.
The city itself remains impressive, but few men choose to approach it if at all possible. Those who have deliberately marched on Peldath have returned ranting about haunted ruins, evil dreams, and strange creatures guarding the ruins. The last known military action against the city was an attempt by the Knights of K’hahn and their allies to establish a permanent base on the outskirts of the city in 956 AS. The ruins of the settlement and the defaced altar of K’hahn found by a reinforcement column dispatched to the city in 958 AS drove home the point that such incursions were not welcome, and that the elves still defended the territory. No survivors were found, although remarkably few bodies were found given the size of the garrison stationed there. Given the state of many of the wild areas of the west, few today will voluntarily run afoul of the elves or what might have taken up residence in the once-great city.
